It’s Day 41/78 of the Yoga Tarot Challenge!
Today, I drew the 8 of Chalices (Cups), which indicates emotional growth to me. The asana on the card is a modified Gomukhasana (Cow Face Pose), but after doing the arms yesterday, I thought I might as well go ahead and do the full pose today! It’s weird how these things work out sometimes…the cards know.
“Which emotions emerge from my past to confuse me? Harmony — receptivity” (p. 12).
What a fantastic question, love it.
I’m big on the concept of boundaries, in general, and one thing about boundaries is that we sometimes have to redraw boundaries that are extreme, either too lax or too rigid, when they no longer serve us. Many times extreme boundaries serve to protect us only in extreme circumstances, and then we end up repeating the habit in times of normalcy…and that creates problems.
For example, if we’re in the habit of protecting ourselves by reacting in an intense way, it feels appropriate to us but comes across as overreacting to others. It happens all the time because, more often than not, at some point in our lives, we have been exposed to some period of extreme circumstances. If we were children during this time, our brains not only created these extreme patterns but developed around these extreme patterns.
Talk about emotions emerging from the past to confuse us. The 8 of Chalices (Cups) is all about journeying away from old emotional hindrances. Time to redraw our boundaries and recognize when some of our default defenses are unhealthy or even just unhelpful.
Peace, Tarot friends!
