Yoga Tarot Challenge: Day 34 | Ace of Swords

It’s Day 34/78 of the Yoga Tarot Challenge and I hope everyone is having a good weekend. We are in the midst of laundry — as always.

The Ace of Swords does not depict an asana so I decided on Phalakasana (Plank Pose) for today.

“Am I identifying myself with my mind? Intelligence — determination” (p. 12).

I think identifying the True Self and the mind as the same entity is a default that isn’t easy to change. It’s difficult to separate our thoughts from who we are. In fact, years ago I would have been confused by this concept altogether — what do you mean our thoughts are not us? But there are times we have unhelpful thoughts about ourselves and others, and it’s important to recognize that that is not the True Self talking. The True Self has no need for all that negativity; that’s the Ego running its mouth out of insecurity.

For those of us that over-think and plan and stay up in our heads much of the day, we forget that our mind is not always helpful. If we’re using our intelligence on a daily basis to accomplish the various activities of our lives, it’s hard to reconcile that sometimes our intellect is not the answer to everything. It’s an important piece, but it is just one piece.

Speaking of piece…Peace! Have a great Sunday!
