Welcome to Day 23/78 of the Yoga Tarot Challenge!
Today we have the 3 of Wands accompanied by a very modified Hanumanasana (Monkey Pose). It’s been many years since I could to the splits; I have a long way to go….
“The energy of passion can be channelled. Creative impulse — enthusiasm” (p. 10).
I have a tendency to get caught up in creative impulses, but I never stop because I never regret a creative endeavor. Even if it doesn’t turn out how I imagined or someone else isn’t impressed, I still can’t wait to pursue another project. People might ask, “Why?” but I only think, “Why not?”
I can see how people who aren’t artsy might wonder why artists channel so much time and energy into something that may or may not be lucrative. But when I see someone making art, I don’t see a person wasting time; I see someone who knows how to deal with the world without hurting anyone.
Passionate energy makes us impulsive; fire, as an element, is unpredictable. In states of passion, people may have affairs or commit violent crimes. Passionate energy is powerful, and it is better channelled into creative life where that wild state of expression can exist with fewer consequences.
The message I’m receiving from the 3 of Wands today is to continue to direct my passion into my creative life and do so with enthusiasm…or else I may find myself anxious or angry with the world (which tends to happen if I’m not being as creative as usual). What’s your experience of channeling passionate energy?
